Melanie's presentation gives an overview of conductive yarn embroidery and its applications. Applications such as textile electrodes, touch, capacity, and proximity sensors, conductive paths and pads will be presented as well as the electrical connection of LED sequins and the ZSK-E-Tex-Board on a ZSK embroidery machine.
Melanie studied mechanical engineering at RWTH-Aachen-University in Germany. After earning her diploma she worked for 5.5 years at the Textile Institute of RWTH as research assistant. Her research topic is technical embroidery. For 2.5 years she has worked as the team leader of the research group Functional Textiles and Medical Smart Textiles. As of June 2016, Melanie has been the manager of technical embroidery applications at ZSK Stickmaschinen GmbH (Krefeld, Germany). With her team, Melanie is supporting costumers all over the world with their product development. In her spare time, Melanie is currently writing her PhD-thesis on conductive yarn embroidery.
