Samsung Display

Founded in 2012, Samsung Displays spun off from Samsung Electronics, and specialized in delivering LCD and OLED displays in various markets ranging from smartphones and televisions to games consoles and automotive applications. They instantly became the largest display company in the world. More recently, however, Samsung Display terminated their LCD business and sold their IP to TCL Technology's China Star Optoelectronics Technology. Samsung Display (SDC) is the leading manufacturer of AMOLED displays. SDC was spun off in April 2012 as a subsidiary of Samsung Electronics. In July 2012 Samsung Mobile Display was merged into Samsung Display, consolidating the OLED and LCD businesses together. This profile specifically looks at the AMOLED side.
