In the not-to-distant future, luminescent solar concentrating (LSC) glass windows with quantum dot (QD) tints will enable building-integrated sunlight harvesting and revolutionize urban architecture by turning tinted windows into power sources. With this technology, buildings may eventually realize net zero energy consumption or even end up supplying the grid with electricity. UbiQD's innovation is the development of a suitable fluorophore technology in high-performance and low-toxicity CuInSexS2-x QDs. The company has already demonstrated a record setting efficiency with their LSC window prototypes, and is scaling QD production and building industry relationships to bring an LSC product to market.
Speaker Biography (Steve Reinhard)
Steve Reinhard is UbiQD's Vice President of Business Development. Steve has more than 10 years of experience developing new business and evaluating the technical and commercial viability of quantum dots into the display, lighting and solar industries. Prior to joining UbiQD, Steve served as Nanoco Technologies' Vice President of Business Development for more than 8 years. He has also held senior level Business Development, Sales and Marketing positions with Displaytech (manufacturer of liquid-crystal-on-silicon microdisplays) and Dynamic Organic Light (developer of quantum dot electroluminescent materials). In these roles, Steve has authored and given more than 20 papers and presentations at high profile industry events. He began his career at Lockheed Martin working in Engineering and New Business Development roles. Steve received his Bachelors of Science in Industrial Engineering from Penn State and earned his MBA from Binghamton University.
