Speaker Biography (Raj Bridgelall)Raj Bridgelall joined Axcess International, Inc. in September 2006 as Vice President of Engineering & CTO. He leads product development and technology incubation for high-performance RFID hardware and software solutions. Raj also collaborates directly with Universities and other technology partners to advance the state-of-the-art of Radio Frequency Identification (RFID), Real Time Location Systems (RTLS), sensor networks, energy harvesting, and low-cost manufacturing. Prior to joining Axcess, Raj served as Vice President of Research and Development at Alien Technology. He was responsible for advanced product development related to the company's future wireless systems, enterprise networking platforms, and architectural extensions to the electronic product code (EPC) standards. Raj was also Chief Technologist for RFID at Symbol Technologies, where he held a series of positions in engineering and R&D over a 14 year period. He led Symbol's activities at the MIT Auto-ID Center and EPCglobal® Hardware Action Group for C1G2, and was the architect of Symbol's approach for integrating RFID data capture into wireless networks. His innovations and inventions at Symbol led to numerous successful commercial products, including the industry's first long-range RFID hand-held with integrated barcode scanning and Wi-Fi. The IEEE also presented him with an award for "developing the bar code industry's most advanced and versatile laser scan engine." Raj is currently named on 66 issued U.S. patents, and 54 others pending. Raj was named a Tau Beta Pi Fellow in the National Engineering Honor Society. He received the IEEE Charles Hirsch Award "for major contributions to the development of radio frequency identification technology and products." His numerous publications explore the science and application of wireless communications, energy harvesting, and optical systems. |
