24 Major Employers Sign up to Cut Emissions with HyNet Hydrogen

Twenty-four major employers in North West England and North East Wales have formally agreed to work with the HyNet low carbon cluster, including those from the food, ceramics, paper, glass and automotive sectors.

World First as 100% Hydrogen Glass Fired at Pilkington UK

In a world first, and just one week after the Government's Hydrogen Strategy was released, trials have started in the Liverpool City Region to produce float (sheet) glass using hydrogen. The natural gas fossil fuel, normally used in the manufacturing process, will be completely replaced with hydrogen - showing how industry can significantly cut carbon emissions and take a big step towards reaching net zero.

Flexbright have launched a new application of their flexible lighting called Lumenasafe, which provides antimicrobial light. This is initially targeted at food display counters.

Flexbright are a Finnish company that manufacture flexible lighting sheets with multiple, individually addressable LEDs mounted onto flexible substrates. The lighting sheets are manufactured using a roll-to-roll (R2R) process and targeted at applications including destination displays in public transport and architectural feature lighting.

FlexEnable

Formerly part of Plastic Logic, FlexEnable has developed a flexible organic thin film transistor (OTFT) backplane that can be produced at low temperatures. It then licenses this technology to manufacturers, with a key selling point that it can be integrated into existing LCD display fabrication lines to produce curved OLCD displays.

Rehau participates in EU-funded lighting project

Polymer specialist REHAU and 13 partners are investigating OLED lighting technology, an innovative new lighting technology, which allows for lighting to be uniform, bendable, ultra-thin and transparent.

Event report: Electronic Display Conference 2016

IDTechEx gave a talk at the Electronic Display Conference in Nuremberg, Germany. The conference had more people than the previous edition and celebrated its 30th year, which reflects how important displays have become in our everyday life.
