Na-ion (sodium-ion) batteries are gaining interest as an alternative battery technology to Li-ion. In large part, this is due to their ability to reduce reliance on expensive materials such as lithium, cobalt and nickel, which could in turn help reduce battery costs. This premium article will analyse and discuss the cost profile of different Na-ion battery chemistries, comparing them to Li-ion cell costs.
