Rapidly improving supercapacitors have been replacing lithium-ion batteries in many applications. The construction of supercapacitors is far simpler than batteries and there is every reason why the expensively-prepared, inherently low-cost supercapacitor materials and assembly technology should not continue to drop sharply in cost.
