Sanctuary AI

1X Technologies, originally founded as Halodi Robotics in 2014 in Moss, Norway, was established with the mission of addressing global labor shortages through the development of safe, intelligent humanoid robots. The company rebranded to 1X in 2015 and has since focused on creating robots capable of performing tasks traditionally done by humans. Its first robot, Eve, was a wheeled humanoid designed for logistics and security applications. Building on this foundation, it developed Neo, a bipedal humanoid intended for home assistance. Over the years, 1X has secured significant funding, including US$23.5 million in 2023 led by OpenAI and US$100 million in 2024 led by EQT Ventures, positioning itself as a leader in AI-driven robotics.
