InnoLAE 2020

Innovations in Large Area Electronics 2020 IDTechEx attended InnoLAE 2020 (Innovations in Large-Area Electronics Conference), which is held each year just outside Cambridge, UK. The conference aims to 'bridges the gap between academia and industry', in the field of printed/large area/alternative electronics. Approximately half the attendees are from academia, with the rest from (primarily) small material suppliers and university spin-out companies.

Wood Based Batteries Created by Ligna Energy Printed at Ynvisible

Ynvisible Interactive Inc is pleased to announce the first industrial scale production of an innovative and groundbreaking energy storage technology developed by researchers at Linköping University and the company Ligna Energy AB. Ligna Energy's batteries are printed from residual material from the forest. The first industrial production run was carried out at Ynvisible Production in Linköping, Sweden.

At CES 2020 IDTechEx interviewed SENSE, a 50 person company that provides long range solid state LIDAR. The company fabricates its own lasers (most others, they claim, buy in parts).

Airspeq

At CES 2020 IDTechEx met with Tania Sole from Airspeq. The company has developed a MEMS based sensor to detect airborne particulate matter. The technology is based on patent pending MEMS thin-film bulk acoustic resonator (FBAR) technology.

XYZ

At CES 2020, IDTechEx met with XYZ who demonstrated a wide range of 3D printing equipment at their booth.

NodeTalks

At CES 2020 IDTechEx interviewed Dr Moon Kyoung-sik, CEO of NodeTalks. NodeTalks has developed an "intelligent wearable gas detector" based on creating a low power system-on-chip and ultra low power sensor interface IC.

MUTO LABS

IDTechEx met with MUTO Labs at CES 2020, a company formed in 2019, but which has been working on 3D printing for four years. They gave IDTechEx some updates and demonstrations of their current technology.

HZO

HZO protects electronics from demanding environments using nano coatings. IDTechEx interviewed Ryan Moore, Director of Marketing at CES 2020.

Pregnancy test kits are one of the huge successes of at-home rapid diagnostics, allowing the private and rapid check of pregnancy. It's a big business.

Goya Lab

IDTechEx interviewed Goya Lab at CES 2020. The start-up, which is one year old, is commercialising an anticounterfeiting technology based on the optical signature from quantum dots or other materials.

Fraunhofer IOF

IDTechEx met with Fraunhofer IOF at CES 2020 and saw a demonstration of their video based health monitoring system.

ARTEC 3D

IDTechEx interviewed Artec 3D at CES 2020. The company demonstrated a 3D scanner targeted to small machine parts, jewelry and dentistry and advised as to its cost, accuracy, and resolution.

WI-Charge

IDTechEx interviewed WI-Charge at CES 2020. The company provide wireless charging via a focused laser like beam over InfraRed.

Vayyar

IDTechEx met with Vayyar at CES 2020. Vayyar has developed a '4D' radar system that tracks location of objects in three dimensions plus their movement.

n.thing

n.thing is Korean company that manufactures the Planty Cube, a vertical farm inside an upcycled shipping container that uses hydroponics and climate control to grow crops far more efficiently than conventional agriculture. In January 2020, IDTechEx Analyst Dr Michael Dent spoke with Ellie Kim, PR Director at n.thing.

IDTechEx met Wearin' at CES 2020. The company is positioned as a system integrator for wearables, creating wearable garments using available components.
