OXIS Energy
28th June 2012 - announced a collaboration to develop and launch the world's first electric scooter powered by Polymer Lithium Sulphur batteries. The OXIS batteries will be integrated into the WESP scooter which will go on sale in 2013.
The E-scooter will be assembled at Qwic's new factory in Rotterdam. Early models are powered by conventional Li-ion technology. However, in 2014, the battery will be replaced with OXIS Polymer Lithium Sulphur batteries, further improving range and safety.
According to Huw Hampson-Jones CEO of OXIS Energy, "Working with QWIC, the No 1 provider of electric scooters in The Benelux means we have the opportunity to demonstrate to the Dutch consumers, and eventually to all our European consumers the safety advantages and the lightness of weight - a very important factor especially for female drivers- of the OXIS battery technology. At last, consumers will be able to travel much longer distances, without fear or anxiety."
