Qingtao Energy Development
The foundation of QingTao Energy Development traces back to 2002 when a research team led by Professor Cewen Nan from Tsinghua University began exploring solid-state batteries. Early breakthroughs included the development of a lithium lanthanum titanate (LLTO) electrolyte in 2006 and a lithium lanthanum zirconium oxide (LLZO) electrolyte in 2010, both of which demonstrated excellent ionic conductivity and stability. In 2014, QingTao Energy Development was officially established, focusing on the industrialization of solid-state battery technologies.

Graphene Recovers Gold From Waste Electronics
This new, seemingly magical application of graphene works quite straightforwardly: add graphene into a solution containing traces of gold and, after a few minutes, pure gold appears on graphene sheets, with no other chemicals or energy input involved. After this you can extract pure gold by simply burning the graphene off.

Engineers Build LEGO-Like Artificial Intelligence Chip
Imagine a more sustainable future, where cellphones, smartwatches, and other wearable devices don't have to be shelved or discarded for a newer model. Instead, they could be upgraded with the latest sensors and processors that would snap onto a device's internal chip — like LEGO bricks incorporated into an existing build. Such reconfigurable chipware could keep devices up to date while reducing our electronic waste.

Lithium Metal Battery with a Protective Layer
Researchers have taken an important step towards a new type of Li-ion battery, which can be found in our smartphones, laptops and electric cars, among other things. For the first time, they succeeded in making an electrolyte that goes well with an anode made of lithium metal. Lithium metal is the holy grail for anodes. In theory, a two to three times higher energy density can be achieved with this material compared to current batteries.
