에너지 저장장치 및 청정 수소기술에 대한 입문서: 탈탄소화를 위한 핵심기술의 도전 과제

Battery technology, energy storage and clean hydrogen are all set to play a key role in decarbonisation.

The Li-ion battery market has seen rapid growth over the past 5 years driven by the electrification of transport and the adoption of electric vehicles. Alternative energy storage technologies are now also rapidly under development to plug the gaps left by Li-ion technology, especially for stationary storage applications. But there remain hard-to-abate sectors that will be difficult to decarbonise directly through the adoption of renewable power sources and battery or energy storage systems. Here, clean hydrogen production has a key role to play for industries including ammonia, petrochemical refining, or even aviation. Renewed interest in hydrogen technologies has also been driven by its role in helping some regions reduce reliance on oil and gas imports. But the rate of growth expected, and needed, from the energy storage and clean hydrogen markets presents challenges as well as opportunities. Can raw materials keep pace with Li-ion battery demand? What happens to end-of-life Li-ion batteries? Are alternative battery technologies ready to be commercialised? Can the electrolyzer market scale quickly enough to meet green hydrogen targets?

This webinar will give a brief overview of the energy storage and hydrogen landscapes, discussing key technological developments, market trends and the challenges that lie ahead for:
  • Li-ion batteries
  • Li-ion second-life and battery recycling
  • Alternative battery chemistries and energy storage technologies
  • Green and blue hydrogen

This webinar shares some of the research from the IDTechEx Energy Storage portfolio.
