Driving the Desirability of Dye Sensitised Solar Cells (Energy Harvesting and Storage Europe 2014)

 

Mark Spratt is the Senior Development Manager at Cardiff based G24 Innovations where he is responsible for new product introductions, performance improvements and technical direction. He joined G24i in 2007 to establish the testing laboratory following a period as the Director of the UKAS accredited Solar Energy Testing Service at Cardiff University. Whilst at Cardiff University his PhD addressed integration of photovoltaics into buildings and reduction of losses from shading. This application driven expertise is now being applied to G24i's new range of photovoltaic products.

Through Dye-sensitized Solar Cells (DSSC) we have revolutionised solar power. DSSC is the closest mankind has come to replicating nature's photosynthesis. In homage to its inventor Professor Michael Gräetzel, we've named it GCell.

 

GCell uses nanotechnology to deliver a huge step forward in the world's ability to harness visible light into electrical energy. The simple rule for GCell is, if the light is visible then its energy can be harvested.
