Presentation Summary

  • The presentation will provide an overview of material innovations that will support the growth of the printed electronics industry: ultra-thin, flexible glass; and organic semiconducting polymers.
  • It will highlight how specialty glass designed specifically for electronics grade purposes is the ideal substrate to enable next generation electronic displays to perform at their peak.
  • The advantages of an ultra-slim, flexible glass, such as Corning® Willow™ Glass over other substrate materials will be presented. In addition organic semiconducting materials are key components in future displays with novel form factors, and Corning's development of polymer semiconductors will be reviewed.
  • Finally, some of the adoption challenges of these new technologies will be considered, and an "ecosystem" solution will be proposed, demonstrating how such an approach ultimately benefits both the industry and consumers.

Speaker Biography (James Grochocinski)

Jim Grochocinski is currently the Senior Manager of the Asia Commercial Technology Group for Corning Incorporated, based in Tokyo. The ACT group is responsible for developing deep technology based engagements with potential customers in Asia for Corning's early stage innovation programs.
Jim has been with Corning for 15 years in a variety of businesses and functions. He received his PhD in Physics from Cornell University in 1993, and BS in Engineering Physics from the University of Illinois in 1988.
