The interest for the Luminescent Solar Concentrators (LSCs) is currently growing and growing because they represent the only technology capable of realizing semitransparent, electrodeless PV devices that can be integrated 'invisibly' into buildings and vehicles without detrimental aesthetic effects. After forty years of research, recent breakthroughs in the realization of reabsorption-free chromophores have boosted the LSC performances to such a degree that they could be commercialized in the near future. This presentation discusses the state of the art of this technology as well as the issues that remain to be investigated for further progress.
Speaker Biography (Franco Meinardi)
Francesco Meinardi is Professor of Physics of Matter at the Material Science Department of the State-University of Milano-Bicocca. He published about 200 papers in international journals mainly about the photophysics of organic and hybrid materials for photonic applications. In the last years Prof. Meinardi was coordinator/member of more than 10 national/international projects and in 2016 he founded and became the chairman of the company Glass To Power.

In a little time some of the major players in the business industry and finance gathered around this idea to create the new company, acquiring the exclusive patent license, with the aim of developing the whole industrial research and development necessary to quickly design and produce an industrial product.
