The last year has changed the automotive world more significant than the decades before and resulted in a strong shift to electrification. This results in higher complexity combined with a fast changing technology. The presentation will discuss the drivers for electrified powertrains and possible solutions paths. New use cases and the key technical challenges of electrified powertrains such as product consistency, thermal management and NVH are illustrated. Insight on technical solution paths will be given.
Speaker Biography (Gerald Teuschl)
After electrical engineering studies at the University of Applied Sciences in Kapfenberg, his professional career started at Magna Steyr Fahrzeugtechnik in 2002 with an internship for development of an electronically controlled differential lock.
After this he headed the project lead for electric/electronic development in customer concept car, which is still in mass production. 2005 he took the challenging position to be responsible for electric and electronic development and integration for a hybrid demonstrator vehicle. One highlight was the control of the hybrid powertrain including 2 electric machines, the first generation of lithium ion battery system, automatized gearbox and the hybrid control strategy. After successful project operation he took over lead of the hybrid team for plugin hybrid and range extender demonstrator vehicle. Beside this project he was responsible for a structural program for integration of hybrid systems in complete vehicle development and production facilities. Based on this knowledge he was announced as chief engineer and product manager hybrid systems in a Joint Venture. In 2012 he changed to Brose SEW, a Joint Venture for E-Mobility, as Vice President Product Group Drive Systems.
Since October 2014 he is responsible for the Product Line, electrification powertrain systems.
