Electric Vehicles and Structural Electronics- Insights and Top Trends
Recently, the good news has been the continued strong growth of the market for hybrid cars, buses and outdoor forklifts, premium-priced pure electric cars and pure electric vehicles of many other types from the newly popular electric motorcycles to mobile cranes, mobility vehicles for the disabled and microEVs. On the negative side, the oversupplied e-bike/ e-scooter business remained almost entirely loss-making Chinese suppliers of the Chinese market where growth eased and companies left the business. Mainstream pure electric cars remained a failure due to up-front price too high, resale price too low (those short-lived batteries) and range too short.
The term "structural electronics" is little known despite being used for several years, notably in terms of specifics such as "structural sensors" and "structural batteries". Google has tens of millions of items on the subject and, more importantly, in 2014, it started to be realised that this is to be something big.

Electric Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs)
This article primarily investigates the hybrid and pure electric powertrains and electrics being used or considered for UAVs and the new missions made possible by electrification. UAVs survey military threats but also the melting ice caps and natural disasters. They can carry ordnance but also drop aid and locate disaster survivors and lost climbers and trekkers. Little wonder then that new electric UAVs are announced frequently these days.

3D Printing- Application Assessment
Historically, 3D printing applications have been focused on prototyping in major industries such as aerospace and automotive since the 1990s. The main value chain was simple with the printer manufacturer acquiring parts and chemicals to build a turn-key solution including both the printer and all consumables for industrial users. This article highlights findings from the latest IDTechEx report on 3D Printing Applications
