Qualcomm: Preparing to Supply Autonomy to Automotive Market
Qualcomm has a long history in communications and chip design for mobile devices. As the automotive industry moves towards autonomous abilities as the main performance differentiator, Qualcomm is preparing to position itself as a supplier of autonomous systems for the future. It has its own chip design to support the computations of automated driving and it has acquired other companies to support it with sensing hardware and autonomous software.
IDTechEx spoke to Qualcomm at ITS World Congress, where the two discussed Qualcomm's business, the consolidating ADAS market, and the US Chips Act.

Roadside EV Charging Solution, Full Charge in as Little as an Hour
Offering a typical output of 50kW from an onboard battery , the ZAPME charger can offer around 140 miles of charge in an hour. This is more than enough to get to a charging point even if many miles away.
For the most part ZAPME chargers will be plugged in just 10 minutes to allow the EV to make it to a charge point. In a dangerous position on the road this could reduce the risk of problems such as roadside technicians being hit by passing vehicles.
