Slate Auto

Ford's F-150 Lightning, starting at US$54,995 for the Pro trim, offers a full-size electric pickup with up to 320 miles of range and advanced features like BlueCruise driver assistance. While it targets a different segment than Slate's compact, minimalist truck, Ford's established brand and production capacity make it a significant player in the EV pickup market. Ford has announced plans to launch a smaller, more affordable electric pickup truck around 2026, with a target starting price of approximately US$25,000.

Ionic Rare Earths

Ford Motor Company has partnered with Ionic Rare Earths and Ionic Technologies to supply end-of-life NdFeB magnets contained within its electric vehicle motors as part of a trial project. Ford also has an agreement to use NdFeB magnets containing recycled rare earths from Ionic Technologies in its latest motors.

Solid Power

Solid Power was established in 2012 as a spin-out from the University of Colorado Boulder. Founded by Doug Campbell, Conrad Stoldt, and Sehee Lee, the company initially received funding from DARPA to explore next-generation solid-state battery technology. By 2013, Solid Power secured US$4.5 million in funding from ARPA-E and other non-dilutive sources, such as the Department of Defense and NASA. This early support enabled the company to transition out of the university's research labs and begin independent operations.

Höegh Autoliners has joined the First Movers Coalition to send a strong market demand signal for the emerging technologies essential for a net-zero transition and has committed to running at least 5 % of deep sea operations on either green ammonia or green methanol by 2030. Led by the World Economic Forum and the US Government, the First Movers Coalition targets hard-to-abate sectors including aluminium, aviation, chemicals, concrete, shipping, steel, and trucking, which are responsible for 30% of global emissions.
