MEDICA is a leading trade fair for medical technology, held annually to bring together technology developers and suppliers across various parts of the industry. One of the major product categories at the event is diagnostic tests. Within this category, a rapidly expanding segment is molecular diagnostic devices, usually a cartridge and a reader instrument, designed for the point of care. Compared to incumbent point-of-care testing methods such as lateral flow immunoassays, molecular diagnostics can offer far higher sensitivity by amplifying the target for detection.
