Molten Carbonate Fuel Cell Technologies

01 August 2024 by Maia Benstead
Molten carbonate fuel cells (MCFCs) are high temperature fuel cells that can utilize carbon-based hydrogen carrier fuels, through internal reforming reactions. Carbon dioxide (CO2) fuel is required for the cells to operate and so MCFCs are considered for carbon capture, utilization and storage (CCUS) applications. In this premium article, IDTechEx explores the technology and specifications of MCFCs and the opportunities for their use within CCUS.
