iBeam Materials Inc

i-BEAM Material is a small technology spin out from Los Alamos National Laboratory that focuses on roll-to-roll production of large-area substrates used in inorganic LED growth. The objective is to couple this with roll-to-roll epitaxial equipment to scale up the size of LED wafers and convert LEDs from being a point source light to a surface emission one (similar to OLEDs). It is still however early days and the LED performance has a long way to go.

Sensoria

Sensoria provide a body sensing platform incorporating textile sensors, flexible microelectronics and software/cloud platforms targeted initially towards sports and apparel companies. Their current products involve a smart t-shirt, sports bra and smart socks.

At the IDTechEx Wearable USA event, America's largest event on wearable technology held this week on November 18-19 in Santa Clara, awards were given to two companies that have made great achievement. The awards were presented to the winning companies by Henri Richard, SVP Worldwide Commercial Sales & Support at Sandisk, who has previously been SVP for Freescale.

At the Printed Electronics USA 2015 conference and exhibition, five companies were awarded for their great achievement in developing and commercializing printed electronics technologies. The awards were presented to the five winning companies by Ralph Russo, Founder and Chairman of the Board of Novasentis, who has also had a prolific and highly successful career as an executive at Apple, Honeywell, Bay Networks, and Nortel Networks.
