プレゼンテーション概要

  • Vibrational energy is more efficiently harvested at high frequency
  • In some applications, including human motion, there are valuable amounts of energy at low frequency
  • A nonlinear mechanism based on intermittent contact converts low frequency vibration to high frequency vibration in ordedr to harvest it more efficiently

講演者の経歴 (Thomas Howe)

Thomas Howe is currently pursuing a BS in Mechanical Engineering from Boston University. His research has focused on structural vibrations and piezoelectric energy harvesting. He hopes to begin working towards a PhD in Mechanical Engineering in the Fall of 2013. Additionally, he has worked extensively with innovative sound reinforcement for live theater, including implementing a revolutionary ambisonics surround sound system with the new opera Death and the Powers, from the MIT Media Lab.
