Synthesis, transfer, characterization and potential applications of graphene.

Dr. Amaia Zurutuza is the Scientific Director of Graphenea. During her time in Graphenea (April 2010 - present) she has so far filed for one patent and obtained a publication in the journal Nature. Previously, she worked in a pharmaceutical company currently known as Ferring Pharmaceuticals for 6 years in the research and development of new controlled drug delivery systems. Her contribution in Controlled Therapeutics led to the publication of 3 patents in novel biodegradable and biostable polymers for controlling drug delivery. She obtained her PhD from the University of Strathclyde, UK and she has worked as a postdoctoral research scientist in two European projects

Graphenea is the first European CVD graphene producer that manufactures and supplies high quality graphene materials to leading companies and research laboratories worldwide. Graphenea is an SME established in 2010 as a joint venture between private investors and the Nanoscience Cooperative Research Centre, nanoGUNE Consolider (CIC nanoGUNE). Graphenes is physically based in the nanoGUNE facilities (San Sebastian, Spain) and has access to all their infrastructure and equipment. Graphenea's vision is to develop the graphene industry in order to add value to the nanomaterials industry.
