First product ideas and demonstrators highlighting the advantages of Printed & Organic Electronics were shown more than 10 years ago. Yet, market introduction of commercial products based on this disruptive technology is still sluggish at best. While the use of organic materials for the production of display backplanes based on Organic Thin Film Transistors (OTFTs) is a quite well defined case - both in terms of the business as well as of the necessary production processes - applications outside the display field still need stronger efforts of the players positioned along the value chain. A close collaboration between various stakeholders such as material suppliers, equipment manufacturers, integrators, device & application designers and product manufacturers is thus crucial for the success of the new market.
As a global industrial partner BASF contributes with ready-to-use inks and ink packages for the manufacturing of Organic Thin Film Transistors (OTFTs), the core element of many circuits and (display) backplanes. We offer our customers inks tailored to their specific applications as well as access to BASF's complete portfolio of Electronic Materials. Our partners design and manufacture systems based on BASF's inks demonstrating the benefits of Printed & Organic Electronics.
In this talk we will present our latest products for Printed & Organic Electronics as well as examples of our collaboration projects. Our demonstrators can be seen and tested at our booth M12/N12 at the exhibition.
講演者の経歴 (Kai Michael Exner)
Dr. Kai Exner received his PhD in Organic & Physical Organic Chemistry in 1998 from the University of Freiburg, Germany, under the guidance of Prof. Prinzbach. After postdoctoral research in the field of Computational Quantum Chemistry with Prof. Paul Schleyer at the University of Georgia, Athens, USA, he joined BASF in Ludwigshafen, Germany, in 2001. After four years of process R&D he took a position as General Manager R&D in BASF India, setting up a new research lab as part of BASF's global research network. In 2008 he moved back to Ludwigshafen, where he joined BASF's Intermediates Division as Global Head New Business Development - Life Sciences. Since 2011 he is with BASF New Business GmbH as Head of Technology - Organic Electronics.
