A soft condensed matter sensor (SCMS) material based on carbon black (CB) and a thermoplastic elas-tomer (TPE) is used as a piezoresistive sensor with a compliant structure design for body-mounted strain gauge applications, including body motion tracking, blood pulse, and breathing monitoring.

Mark Melnykowycz (Dr. sc. ETH Zurich) is a researcher focused on wearable sensors and material tech-nologies. He has worked in various fields including biomaterial scaffolds, research of active fiber com-posites based on piezoelectric fibers, application of simulation technologies in the automotive industry, as well as user experience and product architecture design.
