Wire and Arc Additive Manufacture (WAAM) uses an arc welding process to deposit metal in a layer-by-layer fashion to create large metallic structures rapidly. This talk introduces the fundamentals of WAAM, shows a spectrum of examples of industrial WAAM parts as well as latest trends in WAAM technology research.

Priv.-Doz. Dr.-Ing. Dipl.-Inform. Jörn Mehnen is Reader in Computational Manufacturing at Cranfield University in the UK and Deputy Director of the EPSRC-Centre in Through-Life Engineering Services. His background is mechanical engineering, computer science, and mathematics. His research interest focuses on new Engineering Services, Additive Manufacturing, IoT and Cloud Manufacturing
