Printing RFID directly onto products and packaging
2005年7月21日
Potentially the largest application of RFID is in tracking food. It will only happen at the trillions per year level when the RFID device costs are at one cent or below. This is most elegantly achievable by direct printing of the electronic circuit with technology from such companies as PolyIC in Germany and OrganicID in the US or by printing materials that store the ID code without resort to a printed transistor circuit.
In Finland, Mreal is trialling that on food packages at its Tako carton subsidiary today but the range may be inadequate for the biggest applications and read-write is not possible with this technology yet. However, the printed transistor circuits also have challenges.
