Electric Cars as Buffer Storage for Solar Power

Infineon Technologies AG and Delta Electronics have developed a three-in-one-system that integrates solar, energy storage and charging of electric vehicles. Thanks to bidirectional inverters, the electric car is not only charged, but can also be used as a buffer storage or as household emergency backup power. More and more cars are equipped for this. Looking ahead, bidirectional energy flows coulf also be used to realize new vehicle-to-home and vehicle-to-grid solutions.

Could Graphene by the Answer to the Semiconductor Shortage?

Semiconductors, which date back to the 19th century, are used everywhere in electronic devices, from automobile systems and air conditioners to laser treatment in cutting-edge medical systems. The continuing global shortage in semiconductors impacts how high-tech products are made around the world — the automotive industry alone is expected to lose $210 billion in revenue, with major players like BMW, Volkswagen and Ford already reporting the effects.

In the Future Your Entire Car Could Be a Radar Antenna, Says IDTechEx

Radar miniaturization is one of the key trends that IDTechEx has identified in "Automotive Radar 2022-2042". There are several factors that are contributing towards this, such as moving from 24GHz to 77GHz which shrinks the antenna size. Or, transitioning from SiGe-BiCMOS based transceivers to Si-CMOS ones, which reduces the number of discrete computational components and shrinks the circuit board. So, with the size continuing to come down, IDTechEx asks, how small can it get?
