The technology roadmap for flexible displays

In July IDTechEx released its market forecasts for OLED displays, predicting a rapid rise of plastic and flexible displays. Recent announcements from major consumer electronics companies have just confirmed this trend.

Samsung Display

Samsung Display (SDC) is the leading manufacturer of AMOLED displays. SDC was spun off in April 2012 as a subsidiary of Samsung Electronics. In July 2012 Samsung Mobile Display was merged into Samsung Display, consolidating the OLED and LCD businesses together. This profile specifically looks at the AMOLED side.

Market Analysis of Thin, Flexible and Printed Batteries

The battery market today is dominated by traditional batteries such as coin cell batteries, Triple-A batteries and lithium ion batteries with the former being largely used in mobile phones, laptops and electrical vehicles. Kateeva

Founded in 2008, Kateeva is headquartered in Menlo Park (Silicon Valley), backed by equipment companies (Applied Materials & Veeco) and venture investors (Sigma Partners, Spark Capital & Madrone Capital). In Nov 2013, Kateeva unveiled the YIELDjet, their first inkjet printing equipment designed for OLED display production, showing pictures of a system that can handle Gen 8 substrate glass. Kateeva's printer can be used for the deposition of OLED materials but also thin film encapsulation.

Ford and Samsung research next generation battery technology

Ford Motor Company and Samsung SDI, an affiliate of Samsung Group, have announced research on different levels of hybrid technology that could one day be produced in high volume on non-hybrid vehicles for greater fuel savings.
