With the rapid progression of IoT, consumers now expect a full gamut of devices to work together to accomplish tasks. Things like elevators, escalators, doors and turnstiles used daily by billions of people worldwide are being transformed to drastically improve the flow of urban life and make cities better places to live.
With over 200,000 people moving into cities across the globe each day, the need for buildings to become connected and more intelligent is growing. Urbanization is fundamentally changing the way buildings are being designed, built and managed. Mobile technology, IoT applications, cloud-based services, and predictive building analytics can improve the way we travel within and between buildings.
Enormous amounts of data are collected from sensors embedded in equipment and managed on cloud-based platforms. The sensors connect, monitor and allow for real-time management of elevators, escalators, lights, security systems, HVAC and more, to improve the experience inside a building. This level of connectivity helps allow for the prediction of issues and potential needs before issues may arise.
In partnership with IBM, KONE, a global leader in the elevator and escalator industry, is revolutionizing the vertical transportation market at a time of rapid population growth. The recent launch of KONE 24/7 Connected Services uses IBM Watson and other advanced technologies to bring intelligent services to elevators and escalators. In this session, we'll explore how sensors, connectivity and IoT impact the way buildings are designed and personalized for the needs of an increasingly connected world.
