The Emerging Industrial Thermal Energy Storage Market

With ~90% of industrial heating processes using fossil fuels, this has led to approximately 25% of global energy pollution coming from heat produced for industrial processes. As such, demand for technologies to decarbonize industrial heating is expected to increase. One such technology that is able to store and supply heat to industrial processes is thermal energy storage (TES). TES for industrial applications currently only forms a minor percentage of global TES capacity, given that TES systems have been widely deployed in applications such as pairing with concentrated solar power (CSP) plants, district heating, cold chain, and space heating for buildings.

Hitachi Zosen Corporation (HITZ) is a major Japanese industrial and engineering corporation. HITZ has developed a proton exchange membrane electrolyzer (PEMEL) technology called HydroSpring. Fuenix is a company based in the Netherlands which is a player in the advanced chemical recycling space. It currently has a pilot pyrolysis plant with plans for expansion to commercial operation and plans to license its technology.

Air: Civilian eVTOLs

Air is a developer of eVTOLs (electric vertical take-off and landing) for the consumer market based in Israel. The company's two-seater eVTOL model, called the Air One, has performed numerous rounds of full-scale, full weight flight tests, including hover-to-cruise and cruise-to-hover transitions. The company has garnered over 1200 customer preorders.
