Electric Vehicles Adopt Range Extenders without Pistons

Range extenders are the engine part of series hybrids for land, water and air whether plug-in or not. Plug-in cars alone promise to be a $122 billion market in 2024 which means a very large marker for range extenders - probably over $60 billion in 2024 - that are smaller, lighter weight, have less noise and vibration, can be mounted any way up, are preferably multi-fuel and more effiecient and clean and have lower up-front cost and cost-over-life.

Founded in 2008, Kateeva is headquartered in Menlo Park (Silicon Valley), backed by equipment companies (Applied Materials & Veeco) and venture investors (Sigma Partners, Spark Capital & Madrone Capital). In Nov 2013, Kateeva unveiled the YIELDjet, their first inkjet printing equipment designed for OLED display production, showing pictures of a system that can handle Gen 8 substrate glass. Kateeva's printer can be used for the deposition of OLED materials but also thin film encapsulation.

Nanjing JCNANO Tech Co., LTD. was founded in 2009 and is based in Nanjing China. They offer a wide arrange of nano carbon materials including carbon nanotubes and graphene. The company is investing RMB 5 million ($0.8 million) to build a laboratory in Wuxi for small-scale production.
