How the development of several versions of a medical device can be drastically accelerated using additive manufacturing during the prototype stage. This includes 'multi-typing', the design of parallel solutions due to the lower cost of creating multiple physical examples and the use of medical grade materials for initial assessment and trials.
Speaker Biography (Alex Berry)
Alex is an experienced Managing Director with a demonstrated history of working in the medical device industry. Alex has invented, developed and created the patented technology incorporated within the revolutionary Sutrue Suturing Devices which automate the process of medical stitching. He has utilised current 3D printing technologies to create numerous prototypes of the devices which were subsequently tested with medical experts and then reworked until a successful design solution was achieved. This lead to the term 'multi-typing' being coined to describe their efficient approach to medical device prototyping.
Speaker Biography (Thea Partridge)
Thea graduated in Design Management (BA Hons) in 2005. She has subsequently developed a wealth of marketing, communications and product development skills through her work managing A-list brands across a range of industries, including Healthcare, Technology, Travel and Entertainment. Thea is an avid sculptor who now utilises 3D printing technology to make limited editions of her work. She met her co-presenter, Alex Berry, at a 3D Printing event in 2017 where he agreed to exchange his expertise in 3D printing, for Thea's marketing consultation. This lead to Thea being appointed as the Communications Director for Sutrue in February 2018 where she embarked upon her current challenge - to share the innovative story of the creation of Sutrue's Automated Suturing Devices with the world.
