RFID Requirements from the Defense Industry (RFID Smart Labels Europe 2006)

After serving as an RAF and Joint supply/movements officer, Lee Doherty joined Rolls Royce Defence Aerospace as Head of Supply Chain (Services) in December 2004. Responsible for improving capabilities to support Mission Ready Management Solutions, he is the Logistic Service Line Owner responsible for delivering improved Aftermarket capabilities from a logistic and supply chain standpoint. Global Asset Visibility and Global Asset management are critical to the Logistic Transformation programme that seeks to develop seamless, high velocity, data targetted supply chains that make the most efficient and effective use of engines, modules and piece part spares. RFiD is viewed as central to the day-to-day delivery role and informing through life management plans and supply chain optimisation.

Rolls-Royce is supporting its Defence Aerospace customers as they face the challenging and changing environment, with budget restraints and deployments costs requiring innovative solutions. Rolls-Royce Services is responding with Mission Ready Management Solutions. Through MRMS, a partnership is established with defence organisations to understand their environment and requirements, developing customised, innovative service solutions for combat aircraft, military transports, helicopters and trainers.
