If you already have access, please [Login] Access is available via an IDTechEx Market Intelligence Subscription Speaker Biography (Matt Williams)With a background in multidisciplinary design, Matt has experience in the design and procurement of many cladding systems and is well placed to co-ordinate the many engineering, architectural and fabrication issues which are key to successful façade design, having experience in the design development, code compliance and delivery of projects in the US, UK and throughout Europe, Russia, the Far East and the Middle East.. Arup offers a fully integrated design approach to façade design, considering the building envelope and environment performance holistically, balancing a variety of factors—aesthetics, performance, building code compliance, and cost-via the coordinated efforts of relevant disciplines: mechanical and structural engineering, façade design, fire safety, lighting, sustainability, materials, and acoustics. Through an integrated design process, the team works together to optimize a whole system, taking advantage of synergistic opportunities that would not be possible if each discipline operated separately. Matt Williams leads the Façades practice in the Americas and delivers globally significant façade projects, for Arup, from the Los Angeles office, including the Guggenheim Abu Dhabi, Sainsbury Laboratory, Cambridge UK, Public Safety Building, San Francisco and Beijing Samsung Headquarters, China. Speaker Biography (Martin Howell)Martin Howell is an Associate with Arup in Los Angeles and leads their sustainability group. He has over 20 years of experience and is a Certified Energy Manager and LEED Accredited Professional. Martin's experience consists of assessing and applying low energy and environmentally responsible techniques to meet the needs of his clients for new and existing buildings as well as master planning studies. Martin currently works with Los Angeles Community College District as a key member of their energy team providing technical advice ranging from renewable energy, retro-commissioning, central utility plants and utility incentives. He is also working with San Bernardino Community College District, developing their sustainable construction program. Martin has written corporate sustainability standards for a number of clients including Procter & Gamble and has developed low carbon approaches for projects such as the Treasure Island Master Plan in San Francisco and an 184-acre resort in Aqaba, Jordan.
