Presentation Summary

The evolution of printing electronics over the last decade has reached a point where such products are becoming more common. Typically, these products are not obvious to the consumer as they are components in products with a more traditional "hard" form factor.

Here we discuss the convergence of active / smart printed devices and consumer goods. Using printed inorganic semiconductors, printed energy storage devices, integrated wireless power elements and logic elements, we have created, among other things, new packaging, security and other consumer-oriented devices.

All of these elements will contribute to the creation of a ubiquitous "soft form factor" Internet of things

Speaker Biography (William J Ray)

Dr. Ray is a founder of NthDegree Technologies Worldwide Inc. NthDegree conducts research into and commercializes a number of forms of printed electronics. He is the Chief Technical Advisor of Printed Energy Pty Ltd. Printed Energy, an Nth spinoff, which conducts research in energy storage and energy acquisition.
He holds a Ph.D. in Biophysics, a Masters in Statistics and a BA in Physics and Chemistry. He is a past President of TAGA.
He is a named inventor on more than 100 patents or active applications in the areas of semiconductors, optics, opto-electrical devices, printing, energy storage, photovoltaic devices, water filtration / desalinization and, specialized film coating / patterned manufacturing systems.

Company Profile (NthDegree & Printed Energy)

NthDegree manufactures revolutionary printed lights using micro LEDs. The unique lamps are very thin, flexible, ultra-lightweight and durable. Applications include medical and health care devices, smart labels, packaging, ticketing, and disposable applications. Available now in mass produced quantities. NthDegree provides light were others can't.
Printed Energy is developing printed batteries: single-use and rechargeable. The thin, flexible, non-toxic batteries can be any shape. These innovative batteries are ideal for integrating into fully printed devices requiring small amounts of power, such as the huge range of emerging IoT devices. Think sensors, tracking tags, smart labels, race timing devices and much much more.
