The Bluetooth devices (switches and beacons) use EnOcean energy harvesting technology to communicate wirelessly with other devices supporting Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE). They provide convenient control of lighting, temperature and miscellaneous electric loads. The switch is and beacon are self-powered and never require batteries because the simple act of pressing the rocker or by collecting enough ambient light through the solar ceell generates enough energy to send a BLE advertising telegrams to other devices.
