SmartKem: Transforming The Display Industry With Organic Semiconductor Technology (Printed Electronics Europe 2018)

SmartKem, a leader in the development and supply of organic semiconductors, was recently awarded EU H2020 funding to transfer its flexible organic semiconductor platform to industrial display partners in Asia. Currently in industrialisation, this presentation will detail the company's objectives and challenges, partners and applications for its industrial grade flexible OLED solution outlining the opportunities for brands to deliver low power, lightweight and flexible differentiated products.

A graduate of Loughborough University and with an MBA from Strathclyde University in the UK, Gary has worked extensively across the semiconductor and electronics industries since the early 1990s. Having worked for leading organisations including Alcatel, Royal Phillips Electronics, GN Netcom (Jabra), Liquavista and Samsung, Gary joined SmartKem Ltd in 2012 and as Asia Business Development Director leads the business development function in Asia working with display manufacturers and brands to scale up the company's leading OSC technology.

SmartKem is the market leader in the design, synthesis and supply of organic semiconductors for the manufacture of a new generation of lightweight, unbreakable and low power LCD and OLED displays on both glass or plastic.

The Manchester based business has been focused on the transfer and scale up of its market leading truFLEX semiconductor platform onto LCD and OLED display production lines in Asia.

Today, the company is in the final stages of commercial adoption and scale-up of material production with the first display products anticipated to enter the market in 2018.
