Webinar Title: Lithium-ion Batteries: Disrupting the Energy Sector or Being Disrupted From Within?
Date: Tuesday 5 July 2016
Presenter: Franco Gonzalez, Senior Technology Analyst, IDTechEx
Space is limited - reserve your seat today!
The lithium-ion industry is in a tipping point of exponential growth to become a +100 billion dollar industry in 2025. Nevertheless the traditional consumer electronics market will not be the one driving growth as it has been in the last 30 years.
New emerging sectors are maturing in which lithium-ion is disrupting the way these new markets have operated in the last 100 years such as the electricity sector. At the same time the lithium-ion industry is being disrupted from within, since not only new materials such as solid state electrolytes and silicon anodes may disrupt the performance of existing lithium ion batteries but also new materials and new manufacturing techniques could disrupt the established positions of established dominant large battery manufacturers.
This webinar will explain some of these trends, technologies and the players behind them. The points to be discussed include:
- What emerging markets will capture most of the revenue of the lithium-ion industry in 2025.
- What sectors will be disrupted by the introduction of cheaper and/or better performance batteries.
- What new materials will allow the incremental improvement of battery technologies?
- What new battery technologies and manufacturing process can potentially disrupt the established lithium-ion industry itself?
