Smart Labels USA announce new features for 2006
Oct 27, 2005

Smart Labels USA today announced the launch of two new interactive showcase features at the conference and tradefair in Boston on March 28-29 2006. The event deals with the latest RFID progress but also opportunities in high-value, high-volume niche markets.
'Visions of the Future' pavilion - from Wi-Fi to Sci-Fi will be showcasing RFID combined with other short range communications devices, printed electronics and smart packaging, throwing a light onto the not-too-distant future for RFID and its applications. "The only limitation is imagination," commented Raghu Das, Managing Director of IDTechEx, organizers of Smart Labels USA. "CPG's and FMCG's are under immense pressure to retain and increase market position and are looking for new technologies to support and enhance their brands in an ever-competitive market. RFID can be used to increase sales in addition to reducing costs".
Asia will also feature heavily at the event with a dedicated showcase and speakers at the 'Spotlight on Asia' pavilion. What is happening in China? Korea? Japan? Find out at this event and meet the RFID drivers from those countries. "Public and private initiated programs in Asia are leading to a rapid uptake of RFID-based technology solutions across a multitude of markets from baggage to bird flu. The diversity of such successful implementations and the highly innovative solutions developed in Asia are a lesson for the rest of the world. Smart Labels USA will highlight this," commented Das.
In 2006, almost three times the volume of RFID tags will be sold than over the previous 60 years since their invention, according to research from IDTechEx, with the global RFID market topping $7Bn in 2008. Primarily this will be driven by another new and dramatic development - the high volume tagging of items - notably consumer goods, drugs and postal packages, with item level RFID happening faster than people think - often with fewer challenges than pallet or case level tagging.
Now in its 5th Year, Smart Labels USA conference and tradefair provides a knowledge-based forum for businesses adopting and implementing RFID-based solutions. The global conference will address the full range of issues in market sectors including retail, healthcare and pharmaceutical, automotive, transportation and logistics, supply chain, security, brand enhancements/product design and commerce.
