As a consequence of the continuously growing market demand for Printed Electronics products, the urge for fast, inexpensive and large scale, yet at the same time highly reliable processing technologies has been steadily increasing during the last decade. A prototypical example is the printing of high-resolution electrically conductive structures, which are essential components of almost any electronic device. For a number of applications the available materials and manufacturing processes are already commercially successful. Technologically more demanding products, e. g. large area printed OLEDs and OPV cells on flexible substrates, however, require more sophisticated approaches and have not yet been developed towards full readiness for market introduction. A major challenge in this respect is the transfer of the production from the research laboratory, where technology demonstrators are usually produced in small numbers by sheet-to-sheet (S2S) techniques, to a scale relevant to the industry, preferably on a roll-to-roll (R2R) basis.
講演者の経歴 (J. R. J. M. (Eric) Rubingh)
Eric Rubingh graduated from the Technical College in Eindhoven in Applied Physics in 1997. After two years working with ultra high powered lasers at Eldim, he joined Philips Research Laboratories in 1999. He has been the project leader of the team for the inkjet printing of the PolyLED television demonstrator for the SID 2004. In 2007 he joined the Holst Centre as researcher on printing technologies, focusing on printing of high conductive features on flexible substrates.
