Speaker Biography (George Gruner)

Dr. George Gruner is Distinguished Professor of Physics at the University of California Los Angeles and CTO of Unidym Inc, a Silicon Valley based company. He received his BS and Ph.D. degrees in Budapest, Hungary. Between 1972 and 1973 he was a postdoctoral associate at Imperial College, London. In 1980 he was appointed Professor of Physics at UCLA. He has been and is adviser of several Companies and Government Organizations. Between 2001 and 2005 he served as the CTO and Chief Scientist of Nanomix Inc, a company developing nano-scale sensors. In 2005 he funded Unidym Inc, a company focusing on nano-structured materials applications for flexible/transparent electronics. His awards include the Guggenheim and Alexander von Humboldt award, together with the "Technology Pioneer Award", given by the World Economic Forum. Dr. Gruner is the inventor of over 30 patents and applications, he has published over 400 papers and 2 books.
