Sion Power will present breakthrough technology leading to the highest combination of specific energy and energy density exceeding 650 Wh/kg and 1400 Wh/L. At the core of this transformational energy storage solution is a protected metallic lithium anode with several levels of physical and chemical protection. Sion Power's Licerion® high energy batteries have a potential to be enabling technology for a new era of electrified mobility. The presentation will discuss Sion Power technological approaches and the current state-of-energy density, cycle life, rate capability, low-temperature performance, and thermal stability of Licerion lithium- batteries.
Dr. Urs Schoop has more than 25 years of thin-film process, R&D, and equipment experience. Current responsibilities include technology roadmaps for cycle life improvements, cost reductions and product development, as well as engineering oversight for current and future production processes. Before joining Sion Power, Dr. Schoop was Chief Technology Officer of Global Solar Energy, developing commercial flexible PhotoVoltaic (PV) modules. Since earning his Ph.D. in Applied Physics from the University of Cologne, Germany he is researching flexible thin-film devices with an emphasis on commercializing products manufactured by utilizing low-cost roll-to-roll processing.
Backed by more than 30 years of experience, Sion Power is changing the rechargeable battery industry with its Licerion® technology. Licerion is an advanced approach to lithium metal batteries containing twice the energy in the same size and weight battery as a traditional lithium-ion battery. Licerion batteries are an enabling technology for growth markets such as electric vehicles (EV), electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) aircraft, unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV), unmanned ground vehicles (UGV), and more. Headquartered in Tucson, Arizona, Sion Power is a privately held, vertically integrated company with more than 180 patents. Visit us on the web at
