Dr Onoriu Puscasu, Technical Development Associate
Breaking away from the traditional approach in the flooring industry, Altro Ltd. is developing a flooring covering that can harvest energy from steps. A new, thin design has been created in partnership with the University of Hertfordshire. Based on piezoelectric technology, it targets the emergency and safety lighting market.
Speaker Biography (Onoriu Puscasu)
Onoriu Puscasu graduated from INSA Lyon in Materials Science and Engineering in 2010 (Master's Degree). He received a MSc. degree in Integrated Electronics the same year. He was awarded a Ph.D. degree by INSA Lyon in 2014, for his work on innovative devices for thermal energy harvesting with two step conversion.
He is currently developing energy harvesting floors with Altro Ltd - the UK based flooring company, and the University of Hertfordshire. His work is aimed at creating a product for stairs, to power emergency lighting. His main research interests include energy conversion, sensing, low power electronics, and smart products.
