Louis Kirk is managing director of Sextant Technologies, a premier aviation consulting firm specializing in RFID.

 

Sextant was formed in 1997 by Lou after many years with a major US airline where he was in the IT division and responsible for supporting common use systems and many airport related projects, including baggage systems. He also represented the airline at various industry meetings and activities.

 

Lou was chairman of the IATA baggage group that developed current standards for barcode, data messages for sortation and reconciliation and, most recently, RFID. He still participates in IATA meetings through Sextant¡¯s membership in the IATA Partnership Program.

 

Sextant¡¯s work in RFID covers many facets - from feasibility studies to trial management and integration, and to design and implementationfor production systems. Most recently Sextant has been involved in the Hong Kong RF project, a major trial at Narita Airport and a feasibility study for Singapore Airport.
