Technological innovations can create new emergent industries or even alter the competitive landscape of once stable and mature markets. The printing industry is in the midst of a technological metamorphosis that demands an adaptive management style to embrace the numerous emerging opportunities and integrate them with sound business objectives. The thin flexible printed battery was an opportunity for GSI to leverage years of printing expertise to produce an enabling piece of technology.

Speaker CV

Jim Parker is currently the Engineering Manager for Graphic Solutions International (GSI), and as such he directs the technical development of all of their new, printed electronic products including RFID antennas, printed circuitry and sensors, electroluminescent (EL) lamps, and printed batteries.
 
Jim has a background in power supplies, RF equipment, electromagnetic fields, and electron optics. He holds two patents and has been interested in electronics since the 1960s when he obtained his Amateur Radio license.
 
Jim is a graduate of Marquette University, School of Engineering, with a B.S.E.E. He is a graduate of Elmhurst College with a B.S. in Business, and he also holds an M.B.A. from the University of Chicago.

Graphic Solutions International, LLC (GSI) is a National and International QS9000/TS-16949 Certified custom print house specializing in RFID antennas, electro-luminescent lamps (EL), printed conductors, and thin flexible batteries for micro-electronics. We are also manufacturers of pressure sensitive labels, aluminum nameplates, and polycarbonate panels. Our label and polycarbonate overlay constructions are recognized by both UL and CSA standards, and our aluminum nameplates meet military requirements.
