Speaker Biography (Jian Lin)

Jian Lin is an assistant professor in Department of Mechanical & Aerospace Engineering starting 09/2014. Prior to MU, he was a postdoctoral research associate in Dr. James Tour's group in Department of Mechanical Engineering and Materials Science at Rice University. He obtained a B.S. in Mechanical and Automation Engineering from Zhejiang University in 2007. Later, he studied at University of California-Riverside, and received his M.S. in Electrical Engineering and Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering in 2010 and 2011, respectively.
His research interests are in the fields of multiscale manufacturing for energy conversion and storage, as well as electronic devices, through developing novel nanomaterials and device architectures. Dr. Lin has published ~30 peer-reviewed journal papers in the areas of energy, electronics, and nanomaterials. He holds 5 issued and pending international patents. His work in electronics and energy storage has been featured in NSF, ACS, and Air Force Research Lab websites, and widely reported by the main scientific media such as C&EN, Science Daily, Manufacturing Engineering Magazine, et al.
