Presentation summary

Synthesis and Application of Soluble
Pentacene Precursors in Organic Field Effect Transistors

With growing interest in printed organic electronics, the availability of soluble organic semiconductors has become a crucial factor in realizing the goal of low-cost, large area electronics. Any organic semiconductor to be considered for these applications should meet strict requirements of (a) accessibility (b) solubility in common organic solvents and (c) reasonable field-effect mobility. Inherent photosensitivity for patterning of organic thin film transistors is obviously an added advantage. This talk describes synthesis of several soluble pentacene precursors which have shown the highest field effect mobility among soluble organic semiconductors. It will also discuss preparation of two inherently photosensitive precursor which can be used in patterning of OFETs.

  • Synthesis and properties of pentacene precursors
  • Application to organic thin film transistors (OTFTs)
  • Photosensitive materials - developments and applications
