POHLTEC´s lightweight material AFS® (Aluminum Foam Sandwich) is a single-material sandwich consisting of a foamed aluminum core between two solid aluminum cover layers. The biggest potential of AFS® is seen in the battery case of electric vehicles, wherefore it offers a unique combination of material properties.

The pohltec metalfoam GmbH based in Cologne is producer of the lightweight material AFS®. AFS® is the only single-material aluminium sandwich system worldwide and offers completely new possibilities for applications and processing. The three-layer original material consists of a foamed aluminium core sandwich between two aluminium cover layers. The cover layers are metallic, i.e. fused to the core layer without the need for adhesives.
